  8. One thing that I want to change in the Adult World is the belief about fairytales and superheroes. It is expected in the adult world for us to not believe in these childhood fantasies, but why even introduce the concept in the first place if we are to dismiss its existence.

With fantasy, we can believe in the impossible. And achieve the impossible.

  9. Something I want to be changed:
I want my mother to stop saying things like " You probably aren't going to get very high marks for O levels anyways." Even if it is just a joke, it still makes...pissed off >.> (Please excuse crude language.)

  10. If I could change something I would place more forms of art into the school curriculums such as music. Students will be able to learn how to appreciate music. This will not only revive the dying music industries such as orchestras but also help people be happier and more sophisticated.

  14. I want the Singapore Education System to change from teaching according to year (e.g. Pri 1-6) to teaching according to interests, talents, preference, etc.
I would also like to change the amount of importance these comments are given. Whats the use of submitting all these wonderful ideas when the teachers will never support these changes?

    1. Hi Lionel, there is a difference between supporting and implementing. We do support but we do need to measure the feasibility of implementation. Define wonderful. In addition, it will be beneficial for you to also see the issues in different angles and perspectives. It might help you to understand and empathise with the situation.

  15. Id like to remove sites like stomp- it serves no other purpose than to complain about foreigners and ourselves, making us xenophobic- something a multiracial sociwty should not be.

  16. I want to change the mindset that parents have about children, that its the children's job to succeed/live their dreams when children are not born with a job to fulfil, but their own life to live

  17. i want a change in the way people order their food at the canteen as it is too slow. An idea would be to be able to pre-order the food first, so that the chefs know what to cook next(not just limited to teachers.) I find it a bit boring to have roughly the same choices of food everyday - therefore I suggest that there should be a student-run stall so that if any students that have a culinary idea or just loves to cook, they would able to serve those dishes to their fellow schoolmates - this also gives us a taste of what real entrepreneurship feels like. Another idea would be to attach a BMI calculator thingy (or something that can can measure the BMI of a person) right in front of every stall so that there would be a suggestion of food to eat, and everyone can eat healthily. Speaking of being healthy, the school should attach random simple sport equipment everywhere around the school (e.g. pull up bars) so that the people can exercise anywhere, and not easily stolen

  18. I want to change the way the students can voice their ideas - there should be an easily accessible open forum for sst students to give opinions about the school or ideas about their own projects, and who know, some of those project could change the world.

  19. I wish that sst's teaching system could include more on teaching values

It would be nice to see that in our society, undervalued people are willing to accept compromises, are able to accept feedback as a way of guiding them to have a better mindset and more logical train of thought, and demonstrate the ability to appreciate the efforts of others, as sometimes emotions or other unseen factors cloud our judgement.. Our society may not be as perfect as we like it, but we can learn to appreciate the way it is. After all, a lot of effort has gone into the construction of our society that goes unseen, and sometimes unappreciated. Furthermore, I feel that, in agreement with the poster at the top of this blog post, the only thing we can change in our lives is ourselves. We cannot change others simply by wanting to, as they control themselves as well, and change themselves in response to their environment. Thus, we do not change our world directly by imposing our ideologies as we see fit, but rather the world around us will 'react' in response to how we change ourselves. That is, preferably, in a POSITIVE manner.

This post was made in response to a question asked in class, and does not reflect my personal views. Thus this does not imply anything about the content of the comments made by my peers, neither ridiculing nor criticising. If I have offended anyone throughout my comment, please take the time to digest this message, and understand the true purpose of this comment.
